Objective 28 is substitution method (real solutions)
There is two ways to do this objective, there is pen and paper method and using graphmatica. Im going to show you how to do both of them...
Here is the pen and paper method....
Question: 2x+y=60
3x+2y=104
L1= 2x+y=60
L2= 3x+2y=104
Step 1: Choose the varible with a coefficient of 1, or solve for a single varible in either equation (in this case its the "y")
Step 2: Use transitive property to substitude into the other eqution
So it then becomes: L1= Y=(60-2x)
L2= 3x+2(60-2x)=104
Step 3: Solve for the non- chosen varible
So 3x+2(60-2x)=104
3x+120-4x=104
x=16
Step 4: SUBSTITUTE & SOLVE for the original varible
Since 2x+y=60
and 2(16)+y=60
Since 32+y=60
y=28 x=16
Step 5: CHECK a) Substitute in mental math or calculator
b) Look at the pic using technology
x=16 and y=28
For the graphmatica method you type in you equations and press enter and it will look like the above picture...
